Alibaba and famous brands team up to fight counterfeiting

An agreement that manufacturers of branded products have entered into with the Chinese marketplace Alibaba. It is about combating counterfeit products.

On the website of the Alibaba marketplace, users could see a message that the company has entered into agreements with global brands - Louis Vuitton, Swarovski, Samsung, Mars and 16 others. The subject of the agreement is the joint fight against counterfeit products through the collection of "big data". One of the Alibaba executives said that at the moment, collecting information, as well as analytics, is the most powerful and effective way to combat counterfeiting. To win this fight, you need to unite.

More than ten million products are scanned daily by the system developed by the Alibaba Group. So far, 380 million lists of counterfeit products have been identified in this way. This helped shut down the activities of some 180,000 merchants. Brand representatives will send counterfeit data collected by their own funds to the Chinese company.

Interestingly, earlier, Jack Ma, the founder of the Alibaba Group, said that products made by counterfeit manufacturers in China are often of better quality than branded products. He added that the difficulty in dealing with such goods lies in the fact that counterfeits are now made of better quality and are sold at a more adequate price. Jack Ma said: "Such products cannot be called counterfeit, this is already a new business model."
