How old is he, I can't even imagine. Its appearance, performance, accuracy, and scale wear due to the age of the instrument made me think about the need to replace it. On a large caliper, I soldered the victorious solders instead of the broken old ones. In short, I decided for myself to buy a more modern caliper from China.

All over the world, digital calipers are becoming more and more widespread. I decided to buy a digital caliper from China, but I'm not going to give up my old samples. The more tools the better anyway.

Having considered a large number of options on well-known trading platforms, I found a very interesting, in my opinion, instance. Now a little about the tool from China itself and why I liked this caliper.

This caliper from China has two distinctive features: the tool is made of plastic and, in addition to being powered by a battery, there is a solar panel.
For some time I was confused and could not decide on the choice of a caliper made of plastic.

If you look at it from one side, then plastic is inferior to metal in any way, and if you look from the other side, I can see perfectly well what happened to my two metal calipers.

I was also strained by the power supply from the batteries. With a caliper from China, I will not, for example, work every day, but I will work from time to time, and after a while there may be problems with the battery (discharged, acidified, etc.) and as a result, at the right time, as usually happens to the place of work with a caliper from China, I will trot in search of a battery. And now, the presence of a solar panel made my choice in favor of this plastic model.

And after thinking in more detail about the use of this caliper from China, I roughly drew in my head where I will use it. This plastic vernier caliper from China can be used in measurements, batteries, contacts, connectors, without fear of short circuits, as well as take measurements without damaging the electrical part of structures (tracks, protective varnish). Also, plastic will not leave marks on glass or other materials that a metal tool can scratch. In short, I weighed all the pros and cons and decided on the choice of this particular caliper from China.

• operating temperature range: 0 ~ + 40 degrees Celsius;
• storage temperature: -20 ~ + 70 degrees Celsius;
• humidity in the range from 0 to 80% does not affect the measurement result.

This vernier caliper from China, like my metal one, allows you to measure three dimensions: external, internal dimensions and depth.

Three buttons are used for control:

• enable / disable;
• to switch units of measurement in millimeters / inches;
• zero setting.

I will not talk about the calibration of the instrument, because I have not figured it out myself, but I can draw some conclusions from several hours of using this caliper from China.

According to the results of my observations, measurements and comparison with my metal caliper, it can be stated that the plastic caliper is inferior to my metal one only in that it displays only one sign after the decimal point and therefore rounds. Measurements showed that the readings of the two calipers are almost identical.
