Retevis RT628 radio from China
Hello everyone! Today today I will show you a simple and inexpensive walkie-talkie that I purchased for hiking in the forest, fishing, for cars and biking, for children's games, etc.
In short, this walkie-talkie from China has a wide range of applications. Most importantly, it is inexpensive and the signal distance is sufficient for communication. You don't wake up, for example, picking mushrooms in the forest, shouting to each other 100 or 200 meters away what mushroom you found or calling about this on your mobile phone. And just for these purposes this Retevis RT628 radio from China is suitable.
Now a little about the radio itself from China. This walkie-talkie is very simple, it operates on the PMR frequency (8 channels (121 subtones) 446.00625-446.09375 MHz), the power is 0.5W. According to the passport, a maximum distance of up to 1.5 km in a straight line is declared, taking into account that there will be no obstacles such as electric supports, tall trees, fences, tall houses, etc. Well, where in the forest can you get supports, high-rise buildings, metal fences, etc.
The size of the radio is 160 X 55 X 28 mm. On the front panel there are buttons - turning on, adjusting the volume-parameters, the menu button, and the dial button (transmitting the signal to the radio). On the side is the transmit button. Above is a port for a charger and a 2.5 jack for a headset. There is a clip on the back with which you will fasten the radio from China to your clothes and the battery compartment cover.
Power supply - 3 AA batteries. It is better to buy rechargeable batteries, they are more expensive, but they hold more charge and can be charged.
After switching on, the screen displays the battery level, channel / subtone number and some other graphic information.
Walkie talkie tuning :
- When you press the menu button, you can select the channel number (toggle by pressing the up and down buttons), the next press selects the subtone
- Next on the menu - select the signal when dialing the radio (10 melodies).
- The next item is the microphone sensitivity. 1 - low sensitivity, 3 - high sensitivity.
- The next item is sort of like selecting a channel that will be constantly scanned for the presence of a signal, alternating with the current channel.
- The next item is the sensitivity of noise reduction. 1-High, 2-5 Medium, 6 - Weak Sensitivity.
- The last item is to select the HI / LO transmitter power.
Button manipulation :
- Locking the keyboard - you need to hold down the Menu button. Unblock is the same.
- Volume control - pressing the up / down buttons (adjust from 1-16)
- When the On button is pressed, it starts scanning all channels.
- While holding down the mon button - listening to the channel.
- To activate voice transmission - hold down the PTT button and the ON button, after turning it on, just press the PTT button and release, while the icon appears next to the channel.
- To disable - click on PTT.
- To turn off the keystroke signal and end the transmission - turn on the radio with the up or down buttons held down (down - turns off the button signal, up - the transmission signal).
Signal range :
Testing took place in an open area, naturally with trees, shrubs and fences.
- 300-400 meters - normal flight is audible.
- 600-800 meters - similar to the first one. there is a signal.
- 1000 meters - everything is fine, you can hear it.
- 1300-1500 meters - interference starts, but you can still make out the words.
- After 1500 meters, the signal disappears.
I didn't see any point in further experiments. I'm sure if I stood on some kind of hill, well, somewhere about 3-5 meters, then the signal would finish off up to 2 kilometers. Use in urban environments
